Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
Welcome to our final newsletter for Term 2
What a wonderful evening we had at our Learning Exhibition on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you so much for coming along and supporting our students. It is always great to come together and celebrate the progress our students are making, and it is so important for them to have an authentic audience that brings purpose to their efforts. I loved seeing the progression of skills and the reflection demonstrated through the use of learning badges.
I have included a very short video that I came across just after our exhibition "The Happiness Crisis" by John Eckert. Please see the link below. It focuses on joy and the importance of doing hard things in our lives. I hope you enjoy watching it and reflecting on how we can continue to grow as learners together.
On Thursday, we held the official opening and dedication of the sports centre, the Wyten Centre. It was wonderful to hear from the Honourable Matt Burnell MP, representing the Federal Government, who have generously supported this building with a $1.25 million grant through the BGA.
We had limited seating availability due to capacity restrictions, so our Primary students were part of the ceremony, while our Junior Primary students enjoyed additional outdoor sporting activities. Our choir sang 'The Blessing' as we cut the ribbon to dedicate this space in gratitude for the contributions Mr Peter Wyten has made to our school community over more than 45 years.
Some of our sports coaches attended as parent representatives to celebrate this important event, along with special guests including architects, builders, supporting associations and professionals, members of School Council, and other guests of Mr Wyten. It was a wonderful celebration of our story, which began in 1981 and continues to be written each day.
In Term 3, our Reception to Year 4 students will participate in our Water Safety Program as part of the Health and Physical Education curriculum. They will attend swimming lessons at Thebarton Aquatic Centre. This is a new venue for us as we continue to prioritise student safety and minimise disruption to our timetable.
A reminder that school finishes at 3:10pm next Friday 3rd July. School resumes on Wednesday 22nd July, with Monday and Tuesday being pupil-free days. OSHC will be available for bookings on these days.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and for being part of our Exhibition.
God bless you,
Wendy Matear
Principal
