Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
I hope you had a wonderful long weekend and were able to enjoy some time with family and friends.
Next Wednesday we are holding our Learning Exhibition, and I am really looking forward to this special event. Our students have been working hard to prepare something meaningful to share with you.
All students will be dismissed at 3:10pm as usual. While the playground is usually closed after school, it will be open during this time. Parents are asked to supervise their own children while using these spaces.
A map has been provided to help you locate each presentation area.
This exhibition focuses on curriculum areas and integrated learning units, as well as the use of learning badges to support skills such as goal-setting and reflection.
We encourage you to engage with students by asking questions about their work. This helps them develop confidence in explaining both their final products and the learning process behind them.
We warmly invite family and friends to join us to celebrate student learning, and the effort students have put into preparing for this special event. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing this experience together.
Please take care when parking around our school grounds to avoid yellow lines and our neighbours’ driveways. We really appreciate your support in showing respect to our local community.
God bless you,
Wendy Matear
Principal

Welcome to Week 7!
The weather has certainly reminded us that winter has arrived. At this time of year, we often see an increase in common colds, so it’s a timely reminder to prioritise healthy habits, encouraging good sleep routines, nutritious food, and wearing warm clothing.
It’s very common for children to become so immersed in their play or learning that they forget to put on a jumper and don’t realise they are cold! Terms 2 and 3 are our designated winter uniform terms. If you are unsure about uniform requirements, please refer to the Family Handbook https://www.bethany.sa.edu.au/bcs-family-handbook
Supporting Big Feelings – The HALT Strategy
I recently came across a simple and effective acronym that can help guide conversations with children when they are experiencing big emotions: HALT.
H – Hungry
A – Angry
L – Lonely
T – Tired
Often, heightened emotions can be linked to one, or a combination of these feelings. As adults, we can support children by gently opening conversations with questions such as:
Are you feeling hungry?
Are you feeling angry? Tell me more about that.
Are you feeling lonely? How can we help with that?
Are you feeling tired?
SRC Cultural Dress Day – Week 9
Our Student Representative Council is excited to host a Cultural Dress Day on Friday, 26 June (Week 9).
Students are invited to wear clothing that reflects their cultural background or casual attire. The SRC has been working hard to organise a range of cultural activities, which will take place in the library on the day.
To participate it will cost a gold coin donation, with all funds raised going towards Hope Village School and purchasing additional giant games for Bethany children to enjoy during recess and lunch.
Pupil Free Days – Start of Term 3
A friendly reminder that Term 3 will begin on Wednesday, 22 July, as Monday 20 July and Tuesday 21 July are Pupil Free days.
We wish you and your family a warm, healthy week ahead. We are also very much looking forward to welcoming you to our Learning Exhibition next Wednesday, where we will celebrate your child’s learning journey together.
God bless you,
Deb Clifford & Melissa Taylor

Congratulations to the Year 5/6 girls on the way they competed to win the Grand Final. It was exciting for each of the girls to bring their best effort and to see each of them do their role over the whole day. It was a great team effort and one all of the girls should be incredibly proud of. Well done girls!

It was a privilege to coach the Year 5/6 boys’ soccer team at this year’s SACSA tournament. The day provided a valuable opportunity for growth, as the boys developed their skills, navigated success and challenge, and deepened their understanding of teamwork and resilience.
Captain Cooper, alongside Vice-Captain Ashton, led with outstanding attitude and tireless effort, organising the group and setting a consistent standard that galvanised the team.
Several players also offered valuable input throughout the day, with their communication helping the team improve from game to game. Despite injuries reducing the squad, every player stepped up with commitment and excellence. The team defended strongly, conceding just three goals across seven games, and finished undefeated as champions - an achievement the boys can be immensely proud of.
Thank you to the families who were able to come and support us; we are truly grateful for your encouragement throughout the day.

On a cold, wet, windy day, the girls came out and shone. Right from the start, they came out with a great amount of effort and enthusiasm. Throughout the whole day they were playing a good team game and were encouraging others. The girls were undefeated through the regular games but just fell short in the finals finishing in third place overall. All the girls should be really proud of the effort and energy they put in. Well done girls!

It was a privilege to coach the Year 3/4 boys’ soccer team at this year’s SACSA tournament. The day offered a valuable opportunity for learning and growth, with the boys developing their skills, navigating both success and disappointment, and deepening their understanding of teamwork and resilience.
Co-captains Charlie and Nash led with exceptional attitude and tireless effort, setting a strong example for all through both their leadership, their words and their actions on the pitch.
The team recorded three wins, two draws, and two losses, finishing third overall - a result the boys can be proud of, with every player making a meaningful contribution across the day.
Thank you to the families who braved the cold and wet conditions; your encouragement was greatly appreciated.
