This week, we held our Reception Transition Picnic to help students move confidently from ELC to Reception. Several transition visits are planned to ensure a smooth start next year. Our Year 6 students also visited Temple Christian College as they prepare for Year 7. These experiences help students feel ready and excited for the next stage of their learning journey.
As we approach the end of the year, remember the words from the Circle of Security Parenting Program: Our role as adults is to be bigger, stronger, wiser, and kind. Providing calm and steady support helps children feel secure and face uncertainty with confidence.
Thank you for partnering with us—we appreciate all you do to make our community thrive.
God bless you,
Wendy Matear

On Friday 7th November, our Year 6 students embarked on their second excursion for the year to the Australian Space Discovery Centre and South Australian Parliament House. This enriching day out offered students a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of both government processes and science in real-world settings, complementing their classroom learning in meaningful ways.
We began our day by navigating public transport, putting into action the maths that we have learnt about reading timetables and planning a journey. We caught a train from Mawson Lakes station into the city, and then a tram from Adelaide Railway Station down to the Botanic Gardens.
Our first stop was the Australian Space Discovery Centre where we learnt about Australia’s role in space and were inspired by stories of opportunity, curiosity, and technology. We played a vigorous game of Fact or Fiction regarding a variety of space topics and we were able to see into the ‘Mission Control’ room.
The Space Gallery was a highlight, featuring interactive exhibits on satellite technology, space missions, and the future of space travel. Students engaged with hands-on displays that explained complex scientific concepts such as orbital mechanics, robotics, and space communication in fun and accessible ways.
After a quick lunch at the Botanic Gardens, we made our way by tram to Parliament House, where we were met by the Member for Playford, John Fulbrook and a couple of his staff. John led us all through a tour of Parliament House which included viewing both the House of Assembly & Legislative Council.
In the House of Assembly, students participated in a mock sitting of parliament. John encouraged students to be rowdy like real politicians and they certainly delivered! Rush had a tough job in his role as Speaker to keep order and threw a number of people out of the sitting, including Miss Whitby! Rumour has it that the Premier, Peter Malinauskas was in attendance at Parliament House at the time and inquired about the cacophony occurring in the room!
Throughout the day, our Year 6 students demonstrated outstanding behaviour, curiosity, and respect. Despite the large group of students in attendance, John congratulated them all on their interaction and behaviour, stating that he felt they were the best school group to have come through a tour. Well done Year 6! We are so proud of you.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parent and caregiver volunteers who generously gave their time to support this excursion. Your help with supervision, encouragement, and care made the day run smoothly and safely for everyone involved. We truly appreciate your contribution to this memorable learning experience.

Keeping Learning Time Special: Helpful Tips for Drop-Offs and Pickups
At Bethany Christian School, we love creating an environment where every child can enjoy uninterrupted, high-quality learning throughout the day. Every moment in the classroom matters! Quick visits—like dropping off an item or picking up your child early—may seem small, but when they happen often, they can add up and affect the flow of learning.
To help us make every learning moment count, we’d appreciate your support by following these simple guidelines:
Item Drop-Offs:
Please ensure all essential items (e.g. lunch, homework, clothing) are packed in your child’s bag before school. If you need to drop something off during the day:
Early Pickups:
For appointments or family emergencies, sign in at Reception, collect a student sign-out slip, and take it to your child’s classroom. If the class is not in their room, use the “Where Can You Find Us?” sign to locate them. Access to classroom items may be limited if the room is locked.
Communication with Teachers:
Our Reception team will forward your messages to teachers by email. Teachers are committed to keeping classroom time uninterrupted, so they usually read emails after school. If your message arrives after 1:00pm, it may not be responded to until the following day so we can give it the attention it deserves.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us protect valuable instructional time and maintain a focused learning environment for all students.
Lost property is cleared fortnightly. Please see the photo below showing the current shelf status. If the area overflows, clearance may happen more frequently.
Unclaimed drink bottles and lunch boxes are donated, and uniforms go to the Golden Coin Rack at the Uniform Shop which supports Hope Village. We understand uniforms are costly and time-consuming to manage—this system helps keep replacement costs low for families.
Please visit the lost property area outside the Uniform Shop if you see something familiar. Clearly labelling items helps us the return the lost item to the correct owner.

The boys had a fantastic day at the basketball carnival. They gave it their best effort all day and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship. They played well in all their games and encouraged others, supporting each other whether it was a win or a loss. They were able to show some amazing skills and gelled well together as a team. In the end they finished 3rd overall and should be really proud of their efforts. Well done Bethany Gold.

The girls played hard all day, with some excellent wins, along with some tough losses. It was so great to see their game improve over the day and their tenacity served them well. The team played five exciting games throughout the day, facing strong and challenging competition—often against Year 4 students.
From the very first game, the girls demonstrated resilience and determination, never backing down despite the tough matchups. As the day progressed, it was inspiring to see how they banded together as a team, showing incredible growth in their skills and confidence. By the final game, their improvement was clear, and every player should feel extremely proud of their effort and commitment.
Beyond the scoreboard, the team truly embodied our school values of Grace, Integrity, Respect, Humility, Service, and Excellence. Their sportsmanship and positive attitude shone brightly, making them fantastic ambassadors for our school community.
A huge thank you to the parents who came along to cheer and support the team—it made the day even more special! And a special shout-out to Yvonne, who generously scored for us throughout the carnival—your help was invaluable.
We are excited about the progress made and can’t wait to see even more growth and success next year. Well done, Silver Team—you were amazing!

The boys left it all out on the court today. A mix of big wins and tight games, the boys brought it all together with an undefeated run. They kept their composure in crucial moments, which paved the way for a steal and high pressure shot in the final seconds in the Grand Final, resulting in a one-point win. The boys certainly earned their win today, along with the respect of many. I am very proud of the team in how they represented our school and themselves as individuals. Thank you to the parents who came out to cheer on the boys and support them along the way. It was a pleasure coaching these young men.

What an amazing effort by the girls today reaching the Grand Final. Even though we finished 2nd (we only lost by 2 points) I was so proud of the way that you persisted and how you handled yourself. You are champions to me!

What a great day of basketball! The Yr 5/6 girls silver had a day full of improvement and a lot of fun! With the majority of the team playing in their first actual game of basketball, the girls improved out of sight. They picked up their first win against Hope which put them through to finals. In their final game, which was the 5th vs 6th playoff, the girls showed their growth by finishing with a tie against a team they had previously lost to twice. I'm so proud of the girls who played the game in the right spirit and got some rewards for their effort! Well done!
