Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
Welcome to our Week 3 newsletter for Term 2. I hope all our mums enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day last weekend.
On Friday morning, we were delighted to welcome our Junior Primary mums for our annual Muffins for Mums celebration. It was a lovely opportunity to pause, share a coffee and muffin, and acknowledge the vital role mums play in the lives of our children. We know that motherhood brings both challenges and great joy, and we want to say thank you! It was wonderful to see so many of you there to share in this celebration.
Looking ahead, I am pleased to share details of an exciting whole-school event coming up on Wednesday 17th June. This will be an Exhibition of Learning, designed to showcase student learning across the school through varied session times. This event offers families the chance to step into classrooms and see firsthand how students are growing as learners.
As a learning community, we place strong emphasis not only on academic knowledge, but also on developing skills, capabilities and learning dispositions. Students are learning how to set goals, reflect on their progress, and work effectively with others. We believe education is about nurturing the whole child, enabling young people to become all that God has created them to be.
Classrooms will be open at the following times:
These flexible times will allow families to drop in and engage with their children’s learning. More detailed information will be shared closer to the date, but we wanted to provide early notice so you can set aside time to join us. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you.
Please note that Friday 5th June is a pupil-free day for students, prior to the King’s Birthday long weekend. OSHC will be available for families requiring care on this day.
I would also like to remind families that there will be an additional pupil-free day next term on Tuesday 21st July. OSHC will also be available for families requiring care on this day.
Term 3 will therefore commence for students on Wednesday 22nd July.
I wish you all a lovely weekend ahead.
God bless you,
Wendy Matear
Principal

Welcome to Week 3 of Term 2. It has been a wonderful start to the term, and it has been lovely to see students settling back into routines with enthusiasm and positivity. Our classrooms have been filled with engaging learning experiences, and it is always a pleasure to see our students demonstrating such commitment to their learning growth.
A friendly reminder to all families regarding after-school supervision: all teachers complete their yard duty at 3.30pm each day. After this time, there are no staff members supervising the playgrounds or school grounds. To ensure the safety of all children, the playground equipment is not available for use after 3.30pm, even if a parent or caregiver is present. We greatly appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation with your children. By working together, we can ensure that all students remain safe after school hours. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment by keeping children off the playground equipment after dismissal.
We would also like to celebrate the tremendous success of the Year 6 camp. It was a truly memorable experience, with many students embracing new challenges and stepping outside their comfort zones. Despite the coldest weather we have experienced so far this year, the students approached each activity with enthusiasm, resilience, and joy. Their positive attitudes and willingness to try new things were inspiring. Well done to all our Year 6 students—you should be very proud of yourselves!
Wishing all our students and families a lovely week ahead.

The Year 6 students had a fantastic time away at camp during Week 2 of Term 2. Our stay at Mylor Adventure Camp provided many exciting opportunities for students to challenge themselves and work together. They developed their communication and teamwork skills through activities such as bridge building across the river and constructing a raft to cross the indoor pool.
Students collaborated effectively on the Challenge Course and embraced the chance to get muddy while bravely facing their fears on the Giant Swing and Flying Fox. A definite highlight was Archery Tag, where students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to face off against the teachers using rubber arrows.
Each evening concluded with worship around the campfire, and after full days of activity, everyone slept soundly. As teachers, we were incredibly impressed by the positive attitudes, effort, and behaviour shown by every student. Mylor Adventure Camp always enjoys hosting Bethany students because of their politeness and kindness.
Year 6, you represented God’s love beautifully, well done.

In warm but ideal conditions, our Athletics team proudly competed in the annual SACSA Athletics Carnival. The team delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing exceptional sportsmanship, determination, and team spirit throughout the day. For some, it was their first experience competing, while others celebrated personal bests and even set new event records.
As it was our debut at SACSA Athletics competing in Division 1, it was a significant achievement and Bethany rose to the challenge. Congratulations to the entire team on a fantastic effort!

It was a joy to watch our cross-country team in action today. They had been getting up early to train on Monday mornings, so it was great to see our students put all of that hard work into doing their event. Students displayed great encouragement and resilience to do their best. It was a great day of racing and many of our students were invited to the state championships later in the year. Well done team!
