Bethany Christian School

Weekly Basketball | Summer Season 27

We are excited to welcome you and your child to the upcoming basketball season at Bethany Christian School.

Our primary focus is to develop each student’s individual basketball skills while fostering a love for the game and a sense of achievement through participation. We want every student to have the opportunity to grow in confidence, develop their skills and enjoy being part of a team.

We also aim to create a positive, encouraging and respectful environment where students can build lasting friendships and take pride in representing their team and school. Celebrating the highs, supporting one another through the challenges and learning from every experience are all important parts of the sporting journey.

We greatly appreciate your support in helping us create an environment where every student feels valued, encouraged and included.

All future information from the Sports Department will be communicated via email or through notifications on the BCS App. Please ensure you have downloaded the app using the link provided below so you can stay up to date with important information throughout the season.

Below are important points which will help the season run smoothly. Please read.

The new season commences on:

Saturday October 17th Week 1 Term 4.

Should you have any further questions, then please contact the Sports Department by calling 08 8283 0000.

We are looking forward to a great season.

How to Register (2 Registrations)

As you may be aware Adelaide Community Basketball Association [ACBA] requires all players to be registered with Basketball SA, this is an online registration process for your child to participate in Weekly Basketball.

There are two registrations that need to be completed.

If you are new, you will need to complete both registrations outlined below.

If you are a continuing player, you will need to make sure your Basketball Connect registration is upto date. With the Gameday registration, we should be able to roll you over from the previous season into the upcoming season.

Please see below for more information about each of the registrations:

  • Basketball Connect -  (The provider Basketball SA uses to keep track of its members). This yearly registration (365 days) involves an aproximately $50 fee (Basketball SA and ACBA). If you have previously paid please double check that it is up-to-date, new players please complete by the due date below.
  • Gameday - This is to have your child show up on the score card for weekend matches. All players will need to complete this (continuing players will need to as they were linked to last seasons program)

Please complete both registrations by: Wednesday 7th October (during the Term Holidays)

Basketball Connect  |  Registration Fees

Please see the PDF on how to complete the Basketball Connect Registration process.

If you have previously completed this registration within the last 365 days, it is still active, you should not need to repay.

You will only need to pay the yearly fee from the date you first registered.

When looking for the competition or club to join please search for Bethany Christian School.

Gameday  |  Score Card Registration

Even if you have completed this step in previous season, we still need you to do it again, as all participants are linked to the previous season.

Once you’ve clicked on the link below, it should take you to Gameday, please Log-in to your account.

If you are new to this process (non-club player) you will need to set up an account by selecting “Yes, I’m new”. You will then be prompted to check your email and set up a password.

When you’ve created your account or logged in you can complete the registration process for your child including making the payment which should be $0 (this is just how the system works, you should not need to enter in any credit card details).

IMPORTANT:

When logged in it can be a bit misleading. It is important to register the players details (your child). Please change the adult to ‘0’ and the Child to ‘1’ or the number of children you are registering. You will have the opportunity to add parent details on the next screen.

It could ask for a club|team code, please enter the following code:

The registration page should look like below:

Trainings

Training is compulsory.

Trainings run during the term (not during school holidays) and normally run from the first week of each term.

Players are encouraged to wear their school sports uniform to trainings, but this is not compulsory.

Students in Reception to Year 2 may wear their PE uniform to school on training days, while students in Years 3 - 6 will need to change into appropriate clothes afterschool.

Please be at trainings and matches on time each week, if you are unable to make it to training or a match, please contact the coach as soon as possible to let them know.

If your child is not at training without letting the coach know they will not receive as much game time as the players who did attend training.

Our Policy is that a parent must be present at trainings in case of an injury or emergency. If you are unable to attend a training, please contact you team's coach.

Siblings of team members can only be present at trainings if you (the parent) are there to supervise them and must remain off court. It is not the responsibility of the coach to supervise them.

If they are a current Bethany student, then they will be sent to the late pick-up area and the Front Office will contact you. Alternatively, they may be booked into OSHC.

Training may be cancelled if the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts the temperature to reach 35°C or above on the day of training. A decision to cancel training will be made by 12:00pm (noon) the day before.

Where possible, training will continue indoors. With the availability of one indoor court, teams training outdoors may be required to share a half court each to ensure training can continue safely.

If it is raining, training will continue as scheduled, as the indoor court provides a covered training option.

Please use the BCS App to view all trainings that relate to your child, use the 'Events' section and then select your child to view all trainings. Any trainings that become cancelled will have 'CANCELLED' at the front of the event, and where posible a broadcast will be sent via the BCS App.

Please download the BCS App using the link below.

Playing Uniform

A uniform will be loaned out to your child.

If your child is contuning this season and requires a change in size due to out-growing it, please make contact by emailing the Sports Department.

Plain black shorts WITH NO POCKETS are to be worn with the provided Bethany uniform.

General Information

Please understand that your child’s team coach has been instructed to rotate players [positional and amount of playing time] over a 3-to-4-week basis. This is to allow consolidation for their development.

If you have any concerns about playing time, please talk to your team’s coach.

Please do not go to the team huddle during breaks from play, this time is short and all the time is needed to organise the team for the next session of play.

Please also wait until the coach has dismissed the team from the post-match team meeting. This time is valuable to give all players feedback after the match. Once the coach has dismissed them you will then be able to take your child.

Please also view our BCS Weekly Sports Policies and Code and Conduct, if players or parents are found to be in breach of the Code of Conduct, then the player can and will be withdrawn from the program.
