Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
Welcome to our final newsletter for 2022. Through our Welcome Back events held over the past few weeks,we have celebrated a year of learning and growing with our students over these past few weeks and have really enjoyed seeing them shine. Thank you for your support in the many ways that you have helped your children to get to school, be ready to learn and have celebrated their progress with us.
These events were wonderful opportunities to catch up with one another after what has been a year full of change and surprises. Highlights of the Awards Assembly, the ELC Graduation, the Choir concert, Year 6 Showcase, Reception and Year 1 Concert, and the Year 2 musical and Concert will be added to an online site and they will be available for a limited time. You can access these using the link and password which will be sent to your email account.
We have included a list of class teachers for 2023 in this newsletter. We also have some staff to farewell at this time of year. Mrs Jeanette Ross-Naylor will be leaving Bethany after many years of service, to take up a position at Harvest Christian School in Kadina. Jeanette has been commuting to Bethany from Kadina this year, and we wish her well in her new position. Mrs Raynour Giddings is retiring at the end of this year and has been a been with us for 10 years. We have appreciated her willingness to support a range of students through her role. Mrs Imogen Kooij is finishing her role in Reception this term and is expecting a new addition to her family early next year. We are very grateful for her wonderful contributions and look forward to seeing her again soon. We also welcome some new staff in 2023, Mrs Verona McDonald in Reception, Ms Emma Robertson in Year 2 and Mr Michael Mertin in Year 3.
Our Bethany Robotics Team did an amazing job at the Nationals Vex robotics competition in Sydney, it was 3 crazy days of travel, competition and fun! Our students competed really well and ranked 13th out of 39 teams in the Elementary division. They had one warning for a violation which meant they had to modify their robot at the event. This slightly affected the way the robot could score, but they adapted well to the challenge. In the Automation, round they scored a 45 which is the top score they could achieve with their robot design in 60 seconds. They had the 6th best automation score out of all of the teams. In the skills challenge, they scored a 51 which wasn’t their best as they had to modify the way they could score because of their violation warning. In the end they made finals where they competed against some amazing world class robots. It was an amazing trip and an incredible experience for our team to achieve as well as they did, they have come home inspired with new ideas and look forward to next year’s game board announcement. Thanks again to our amazing local business sponsors, Supashock, Craig Roberts Pharmacy, 2K Embroidery and Sage Automation.
I am very grateful to God for all that he has done this year and I pray that you will look back on the many experiences we have had in 2022, see how your children have grown and matured, and look forward to a new year with hope.
May you know His refreshing, peace and love this Christmas.
God bless,
Wendy Matear
