Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
This week we begin our Parent Teacher Interviews on tonight and finish them next Tuesday evening. These are a helpful touch point for you to hear directly from your class teacher about your child’s progress. It is always good to meet face to face and to have the opportunity to share in your child’s learning journey. We have swapped around the location of these interviews with Junior Primary (Reception, Year 1 & Year 2) held in the function room and Primary (Year 3, 4, 5 & 6) interviews in the Performing Arts Centre. The interviews are a 10-minute timeslot and so if you need more time, please speak to your child’s teacher to organise an alternative catch up. Thank you for making the time to come in and participate in these conversations.
We are beginning to see the change in season and with this comes a range of coughs and colds. Thank you for helping us to minimise the spread by giving your child the rest they need and for making those difficult parenting decisions that get them to bed on time. One of the most important jobs we get to do in life is to raise children who become good people. At Bethany we believe that our values help to shape our choices and we rely on God’s help to make those important choices to serve, to forgive and to live lives for and with others. Our mission as a school is based on the verse from the book of Isaiah 54:13-14 and it says; “All your children will have God for their teacher – what a mentor for your children! You will be built solid, grounded in righteousness.” If you are facing some large challenges at the moment, I want to encourage you to ask God for help and allow Him to lead you and your family from a solid foundation.
Our last day of this term is Friday 27th September with our usual finish time of 3:10pm. We have a two-week break returning on Monday 14th October. Term 4 always seems to move by very quickly and so I wanted to let you know that we are currently planning our Christmas Exhibition that will be held on Wednesday 4th December in the evening. This will be a celebration of our year of learning and will be called “Jesus the Promise”. Your children have begun to contribute to the planning of this event, and I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas with you.
I hope that you have a lovely weekend and can enjoy some time with your family over the school break.
God bless,
Wendy Matear
Principal
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Matthew 5:6
Welcome to week 9. There have been some great things happening around school in the last few weeks of this term. Our Year 6 students have been impressing the school at Monday Morning Praise with their choreographed dances, which they have been working on all term. The School Choir will also demonstrate their singing to the whole school at Week 10 Monday Morning Praise. It is so great that our students can celebrate their talented skills in front of a live audience.
Nature Play
The school holidays are not too far away. I have found two Nature Play “Things to do” outdoor activities that might interest your children during the school break.
SRC Handball Tournament
In Week 10, the SRC are going to trial running a Years 3-6 Handball Tournament during lunch times. Our students thoroughly enjoy playing handball and a Year 4 student approached the SRC to see if they could hold a competition. We are looking forward to seeing how this goes next week.
I wish you and your family a wonderful week ahead, and a safe and very restful break during the school holidays.
God bless you,
Deb Clifford
Deputy Principal
Swimming
Week Ten is swimming week for our Reception students.
I would like to remind you of the following:
• If your child suffers from eczema which is worsened by swimming, please talk to the teacher or to the school nurse who would be able to create a care plan to help your child enjoy swimming.
• As usual the school will pack the medication that has already been provided to the school.
• Please make sure to check your child’s hair for headlice before the swimming event.
• If your child is not feeling well, please keep the child at home and notify the school.
• As per the swimming center policy, you must not swim for 2 weeks after gastro symptoms have ceased.
If you have any concerns, please contact the school on 8283 0000.

On Friday the 30th of August, our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 students participated in our annual Mini Olympics event. Students embraced the weather as they were met with some gusty wind and light rain until after recess when the sun came out. They competed and participated in the 70m Sprint, Water Relay, Steeple Chase, Vortex Throw, Long Jump, Totem Tennis, Mini Golf, Nature Play, Relays and Tug-O-War. A highlight is always seeing students encourage one another and try their best. It was a great day of community and fun for our students, staff and parents who attended. Thank you to everyone involved!
