Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
Welcome to week 7! I trust that you all had time to spend some quality time with your families over the long weekend. Our teaching staff worked on curriculum writing on the pupil free day, continuing the work of aligning our curriculum with the version 9 of the Australian Curriculum.
Faith in the Future Town Hall Meeting
On Wednesday 12th June, over 600 committed Christian school community members from a range of Christian Schools in South Australia attended the Faith in the Future town hall meeting at Tyndale Christian School, Salisbury. This town hall meeting was to show our support for Christian education and to celebrate the difference that Christian faith makes with our political representatives. Isa, (a current student) and Rodante, (an alumni), were chosen to speak at the town hall meeting and both were outstanding in representing our schools.
SRC Sports Equipment
Due to the generosity of the school community, the SRC were able to purchase over $900 of sporting equipment for the students to use during break times. The student leaders have been working out a system that will provide everyone access to the equipment, while minimising the damage and loss of the new equipment. A brand-new box to store the sporting equipment has been put in the UCA, and our student leaders will be running the loaning and returning of sporting equipment at lunch times. The Giant Jenga will be kept in the library for students to use at lunch time.
Traffic Concern
A few concerned members of our school community have reached out to share their frustration and fear when they have been watching people drive into our back car park via the ‘no entry’ roundabout near the ELC on Byron Bay Drive. There have been several near misses, and real fears are held for the safety and wellbeing of our students.
If you are going to enter our back car park, please use the road behind the Good Start Early Learning Centre and use the ‘kiss n drop’ road to enter the car park. The gates are open until 4pm to accommodate after school sports programmes.
The Salisbury Council have been in negotiations with us to make Countess Street a safer road and to help alleviate the congestion. We hope to have confirmed information to provide to our school community soon about what the Salisbury Council have planned. In the meantime, I implore our road users to drive safely around our school and in our car parks so that we can keep our children safe.
SACSA Soccer
This week our year 3/4s and 5/6s have been representing Bethany at the SACSA Soccer Carnivals. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the carnival and represented the school extremely well. Well done, Bethany!
Nova 919
Bethany was nominated to host Nova 919’s live breakfast programme, the Friday Live @ Your School (FLAYS). Nova 919 hosts, Jodie and Hayesy will be running the programme from 6am-9am, Friday 14th June. There will be stacks of special guests, the Nova street team coming, games, giveaways, and as a school we have won $500 from Puratap. Parents are able to bring their children from 7am-8am and supervise them until 8am, when our staff will supervise the children as part of our normal yard duty. Thank you, Belinda Fagan, for nominating Bethany Christian School!
I wish you all a fabulous week ahead.
God bless you,
Deb Clifford

Withdrawal Policy
Should you decide to transfer your children to another school, then the school requires written notification one term in advance of the withdrawal of the children. This enables the school to plan ahead with possible enrolments to replace the children. If written notification is not given, then one term’s fees will be charged as per the Withdrawal Policy which is signed at the time of enrolment.
The Reception classes had a wonderful trip to the Hahndorf Farm Barn. We were able to explore and discover new sights, sounds and experiences. Some of our highlights were milking the cow, feeding the animals in the paddock and enjoying the fresh air. Our learning in the classroom has been about the needs of living things and also discovering where our food comes from.
Here are some reflections of our day:
I liked patting the snake. It felt bumpy. (Tanner)
I fed a donkey and I liked it. I got to feed a sheep and I liked it. (Hannah)
I liked going on the bus. I liked seeing the trees (Adelle)
I went to the Farm Barn on the bus. I got to milk the cow. I got to go in the guinea pig cage. (Tia)
I got to pat the cow. And I had a go at milking the cow. (Mia)
I saw a cow at the Farm Barn. I fed the cow. I loved the cow. (Ramin)
I liked feeding the deer. I liked milking the cow. (Lincoln)
