Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
Welcome to our week 7 newsletter. This Friday is our catch-up day for Primary Athletics for our Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6 students. The weather is looking much kinder than the original date and so we welcome you to come along and enjoy a coffee and move around the event to cheer on your children as they do their best in the variety of events. We ask that you sign in at the first aid station and wear the sticker provided to help us to avoid a crowd in the front office area and to know who is on site. The Sports Department will provide a link with updated scores and a timetable of events. Please remember to pack and name your child’s hat and drink bottle on the day. It will be a great day of fun and activity.
Next week, on Tuesday, we will have some concrete trucks arriving to pour foundations. Please take extra care as you arrive in the morning for drop off. This will be an exciting milestone in the progress of our new sports facility. We will begin to see how the building will take shape and once again we thank you for your patience with the car park.
I am also excited to invite you to our week 9 Easter Chapels on Wednesday 2nd April. This year, Easter falls in the middle of the school holiday break. It is a very important celebration on the Christian calendar as we remember the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus and so we have decided to use our usual chapels to explore the meaning of Easter. Primary Chapel is held at 10:50am-11:30am and Junior Primary Chapel is 12:10pm-12:50pm. These chapels will be recorded for those who are unable to attend in person or would like to watch it later. We will also send home an Easter activity page that will include a range of family activities that you might like to explore together.
Our Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on Thursday 3rd April and Tuesday 8th April. You will have received an email with a booking link so that you can book a 10-minute time to touch base with your child’s class teacher to talk about your child’s progress. If you have not received an email, please contact the office to update your contact details.
I hope that you have enjoyed the cooler weather and that you are able to enjoy some time with your family this weekend.
God bless you,
Wendy Matear
Principal

I trust you are all staying well as we fly through the term! It certainly feels like everyone has gotten into the groove of the term and are very much engaged in all the fun of term 1.
Celebrating Birthdays or Special Events Without Food
Everyone loves to celebrate their birthday or a special occasion, such as Easter and Christmas. At school, we love to celebrate such moments with our students, and it is a lovely idea to bring something into the class so that your child can share this moment with their classmates. Due to the large number of allergies to foods amongst our student body, we would encourage you to think of alternative ways to share your child’s special day, or the special occasion, with their classmates without food.
There are a variety of ways to celebrate without food. Perhaps you could consider bringing in non-edible treats such as stickers, inexpensive trinkets (ie. A balloon packet so that each child receives one balloon – never underestimate the fun a balloon brings!), a special pencil, eraser, a bookmark, glow sticks, bouncy balls etc? Please help keep our students healthy at school by not bringing in cake or shared foods/snacks. Your help is very much appreciated. If you have any questions, please see your child’s teacher.
Advanced Notice!
The SRC (Student Representative Council) are holding a PJ/Casual Day on Friday 4th April, Week 9. Students can come to school in their clean pjs and even wear their slippers to school. Students will need to have school suitable shoes to play on the oval at recess or lunch. If your child doesn’t want to wear their pjs, they can wear appropriate casual clothes.
To participate, students need to bring a gold coin to school, either a $1 or $2 coin. All money raised will go towards buying sand play tables for our JP students, giant games for the UCA and equipment for the Hope Village Library.
The SRC will continue to remind everyone about the PJ/Casual day in week 9 over the next few weeks.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful week ahead.
God bless you,
Deb Clifford
Deputy Principal
Camp
The Year 5s are going on their camp in Week 8 this term from Wednesday 26th March 2025 to Friday 28th March 2025. If you haven't supplied any medication for this camp, please do so as soon as possible as this may affect your child’s ability to attend camp.
Swimming
Our Year 3 and 4 students are going swimming in Week 10.
• As usual the school will pack the medication that has already been provided to the school
• If your child needs any medication that needs to be administered during the event, please make arrangements to prepare the medication along with a management plan or medication authority signed by a doctor
• If your child is not feeling well, please keep the child at home and notify the school
• Eczema and swimming - if your child suffers from eczema which is worsened by swimming, please talk to your child's teacher or to the school nurse who will be able to help you with a care plan to help your child to enjoy swimming
