Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
Welcome to our Week 3 Newsletter for Term 3. We continue to find ourselves in uncertain times but I am grateful for the confidence we can have that God holds us in his hand and that no matter what ‘storms’ are raging around us, we can know the One who is able to give us peace amongst the storm. I recently said goodbye to my father in law who lost his battle with cancer. I know that many families around the world have been struggling with sickness and tragedy but I have been reminded of the importance of the confident hope I have because of Jesus. If you are struggling at this time, I would like to share these words from John 16:33b “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
This week on Thursday night and next Tuesday night we are holding our Term 3 Parent Teacher Interviews. These are a snap shot into how your child is going at school. The interviews are 10 mins each and will be held in the PAC and Function room. There will be a waiting area just for the interview immediately before only and we will have staff supporting the movement of people in and out of the space as well as ensuring that additional cleaning occurs. If you arrive more than 15mins earlier, we would ask that you wait in your car as we want to avoid groups of people gathering together. We appreciate your patience as you work with us in this way and we will do our best to keep things running on time. If you have missed the opportunity to book an interview, please contact the office.
Next Thursday is school photograph day so please make sure that your child wears their winter uniform on that day. Family photos will occur from 8:15 am but due to restrictions, parents will not be present. The students need to wait at the PAC foyer and will be supported by staff and MSP photography. For any further questions, please contact the school office.
Although restrictions have been adjusted in South Australia, there are currently no changes to our procedures. If this does occur, we will notify you via the app and communicate any new information. I would encourage you to check for any reported business or venues where confirmed cases have been found to ensure that if you have visited these places, you can follow the self-isolation requirements. We would also ask that you notify our office if you are required to self-isolate to ensure that we can support our families.
I would like to thank you for your ongoing diligence in keeping up hygiene, social distancing and following government restrictions. We also thank you for following our drop off routines safely. I would like to pray these words over you and your family at this time. “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
God bless,
Wendy Matear
Principal
Memory Verse
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

Parent Teacher Interviews
Our Parent Teacher Interviews (PTI) will look different this year as we have taken COVID19 requirements into consideration.
This term, we have moved the PTI forward a few weeks. This will offer parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s report with their teacher. We have also reduced the number of contact areas by utilising the very large spaces of the Performing Arts Centre and Function Room (and the superb heating too).
To reduce the number of people on site, we have kindly asked that only 1 member of the family meet with your child’s teacher and ask that children are not brought to the school site during the PTI. This will help with contact tracing and social distancing.
To further reduce the risk of COVID19, hand sanitiser will be provided upon entrance and exit of the school site, and high contact points will be cleaned after each interview. Everyone who attends the PTI will be asked to fill in a COVID19 Declaration and Disclosure Form. If you develop symptoms of a cold or flu, or you feel unwell on the night, simply give the school a call to cancel your appointment. We will endeavour to find you a new PTI at a mutually convenient time and date.
As we expect no more than 21 people attending any given PTI, the entire front car park will be open to parents to use on Thursday 6th and Tuesday 11th of August from 3.30pm onwards. The back gate (Byron Bay Drive car park school gate) will be closed at 4pm. A map of how to navigate the school during the PTI will be made available to you, and friendly staff will be around to assist you while you are on site.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the PTI. Thank you for working with us in such challenging times!
Street Parking & Traffic Update
A big shout of ‘Thanks’ goes to everyone who is helping to keep our children safe by using the neighbouring streets and our Turning Circle/Kiss ‘n’ Drop appropriately. By not parking along Countess Street during peak hours to drop off students, it has made the traffic flow much more successful and has made conditions for our pedestrians so much safer.
The Salisbury Council and SAPOL are working with us to help with traffic. They have both indicated that they will be making frequent visits during the peak hour traffic periods to assess the situation. If you note a traffic violation, please report it to both the Salisbury Council and SAPOL. The school has no legal jurisdiction on the roads outside of the school boundaries, so we need to work with the Council and SAPOL to help keep our roads safe.
I pray that you all stay safe and healthy.
God bless you,
Deb Clifford

As this week is National Homelessness Week, Bethany Christian School will be participating in the Walk A Mile Challenge again this year. Last year we had a great turn out and we would like to invite our school community to join us on Thursday 20th August at 7.30 am. We will meet at the front gate and walk around the school and the neighbouring streets and return to school at 8 am.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
COVID practices will apply.
All those participating are encouraged to make a donation.
Our school photo day is Thursday 13th August (week 4).
Family photos will commence from 8.15 am but please remember that parents are not allowed on site. Please drop off your children at this time and MSP Photography will organise the rest. If you would like a family photo envelope please collect one from the front office.
You can pay for all your children in one envelope, however each child needs to have their own envelope on the day. Credit card payments can only be made online.
Online orders are available at www.msp.com.au Remember to use the shootkey that is on your child's envelope when paying online.
If you are paying by cash, please enclose correct money as no change can be given.
We ask that you consider the other students and also the photographers by keeping sick children at home.
For any enquiries please contact MSP direct on 8132 1148 or email them at enquiries.adl@msp.com.au">enquiries.adl@msp.com.au
