Bethany Christian SchoolMENU
Welcome to our Week 3 newsletter. We held our Primary Cross Country last Friday where students from Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 ran a 1, 2, or 3 km track. The day was a lot of fun and very well organised by our Sports Department. The winners of the day were Meshach (red). It was great to have so many families cheering them on and we are grateful for the weather that day. In two weeks, Friday 8th March, we will hold our Primary Athletics day on both ovals here at Bethany. This is always a fun day to gather and see our students do their best and show their strengths. We also love seeing students choosing to celebrate the strengths of others and cheer on their friends. Our Sports Department will provide more information to our Year 3, 4, 5, & 6 families closer to the day. This will include any requirements for visitors on the day.
Thank you for being a part of our Meet the Teacher Evening last week which included helpful information allowing us to partner with you as we help children to discover their identity and purpose through learning in 2024.
Our Reception students have two more Wednesday rest days. They are settling well into school routines and learning what it means to concentrate all day. We are very proud of their progress and appreciate your support in maintaining bedtime routines. There are a number of illnesses circulating through schools at the moment, and so I would encourage all families to think about bedtimes, healthy eating and finding times of rest and fun.
Staff and students are currently designing an opportunity to celebrate Easter later this term. We will give you dates and details as soon as we can, to invite you to come along and enjoy “New Life, exploring the joy in Easter”. We are working hard to co-create with students to help them to grow and learn with us and we are excited to share this with you.
We do finish school at 12:10pm on Thursday 28th March which is the day before the Easter long weekend. We then return to school on Tuesday 2nd April and finish the term on Friday 12th April. Parent teacher interviews are to be held on Thursday 4th April and Tuesday 9th April. We included a calendar in our previous newsletter for your information.
I hope that you are managing to stay cool in this weather and that you will enjoy a fun and restful weekend.
Wendy Matear
Principal
Welcome to week 3 of term 1. The year has started extremely well. The students have been so engaged during our Monday Morning Praise assemblies and our Chapel services. It was so great to see so many attend our Meet the Teacher Evening. I hope you enjoyed meeting your child’s teacher and looking at their classroom for 2024.
Thank you to everyone who is demonstrating patient and careful use of our neighbouring roads and car parks. Your effort to keep our students safe while coming to school and leaving from school is greatly appreciated.
We would like to remind everyone about the importance of enforcing the correct wearing of seatbelts when transporting children to and from school. Drivers who fail to ensure their passengers are wearing their seatbelts correctly face fines and the loss of demerit points. Please take the time to read the attached SAPOL fact sheets which outline the laws around seatbelts and booster seats.
For further information about the road rules, seatbelts and child restraints, please go to www.mylicence.sa.gov.au/road-rules/seatbelts-and-child-restraints .

Bethany Christian School’s Inter-House Athletics Carnival is fast approaching and will be held on:
Friday 8th March | Week 5, Term 1 (with Friday 15th March as the back up date)
Shadarch, Meshach and Abednego will again go head to head to see which house can tally the most points to win the House Shield, so make sure you are there!
Depending upon the year they were born in they will be in the following age group:
While giving everyone a chance to participate, we use this as a guide to help select our SAPSASA and SACSA Athletics squads, so those students who wish to be selected will need to try their best at this event.
Once again we will be using the web based program ReadyGo to administer our Athletics Day, so please use the link below to find the program.
A guest code (to access the information) will be sent to parents closer to the event, there is no need to register for an account.
More information will be updated on the Sports Events Page as we get closer to the event.
On a warm summer morning we held our annual Cross-Country Event on Friday the 16th of February. Depending upon their age, all students showed a great attitude as they either walked or ran various distances of 1, 2 or 3kms.
