Week 1Term 22024

Our Year 6 students enjoying a science lesson.

From the Principal

Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 2. I trust that you were able to have some time with your children and to enjoy the change of pace that comes with a school break. Next week our Year 6 students head off on camp. School camps provide a range of experiences that allow for the development of independence, collaboration, and resilience. These times give students the time to enjoy the outdoors and to become more confident to try new things. I look forward to hearing about their experiences on their return to school.

We are holding a Mother’s Day stall on Thursday and Friday next week. Please refer to the flyer in this newsletter for more information.

We have our school photographs on Thursday 16th May. We are now wearing our winter uniform and so we will take photographs of students wearing their blue winter uniform. If your children usually wear PE uniform on Thursdays, please send your child to school in their blue uniform on that day. If you are unsure of the uniform requirements, please refer to the school diary. The diary outlines all uniform expectations, including hairstyles.

We have swimming lessons for our Year 5 and Year 6 students in Week 4 of this term. You will receive more information and I would encourage you to speak with your class teacher if you have further questions.

Friday 7th June we have a Pupil Free Day to provide professional learning time for our staff. This is prior to the June long weekend. Camp Australia will be open for bookings if you require care for your children on that day.

I received 10 hard copies of the report from Independent Schools Australia which features a case study of our school. You may like to visit https://isa.edu.au to see the report online. There are also copies available for you to browse in the front office. It is so wonderful to see the important work we have been doing as a school, becoming a voice to our government. We believe that Independent Schools should continue to receive fair and equitable funding in Australia. We are grateful for the support that we receive to help our students to access quality education. We also believe that parents should have the right to choose the schools that are best for their family, especially in regard to Christian beliefs and values. We will continue to speak up for our wonderful learning community and we thank you for your support. You also might like to visit https://mychristianschool.au to see the important work Christian schools are a part of in our nation.

I hope that you have restful weekend.

God bless,

Wendy Matear

Deputy's Corner

Welcome back to term 2. I trust that you all had a lovely school break with your families. Term 2 and 3 are winter uniform terms as the weather will now continue to cool as we move towards the winter months. If you are unsure what the winter school uniform requirements are, please refer to your child’s school diary on page 15-17. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Last term our SRC ran a fundraiser to raise money for more sporting equipment for students to use on the basketball courts during play time at school. They raised $931.80, and the SRC were blessed richly with a very large donation from a generous school family. The SRC are now planning the equipment that they can buy with this money in their weekly meetings. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the SRC fundraiser.

I pray you and your family remain well and have an excellent start to Term 2!

God bless you,

Deb Clifford
Deputy Principal
