We have now been running our Year 5 and 6 BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) iPad Program for 10 years with great success. We have found the iPad to be an extremely portable and powerful teaching and learning tool. It can be transported to and from school in a backpack and stored easily without taking up much classroom space. The iPad has excellent technical specifications such as: a battery life that will last a whole day of use, a fast and smooth operating system, built in camera, bluetooth, speakers, microphone, wireless and much more.

Apple allows a family household to share an iTunes account, this includes sharing apps, songs and iTunes content between up to 5 devices in 1 household. Please see Apples terms and conditions for more information. The school required apps will be allocted to your children through a Mobile Device Management System, this means that you will not need to purchase those required apps.

With the release of iOS 14 (mobile operating system) certain iPads are no longer compatible with some current apps. Please make sure the old iPad your child is using is loaded with iOS 14 or above to ensure all school apps will run. To check iOS version: Settings > General > Software Update
If your student had a 4G/Cellular iPad it must not come to school with a sim card inserted. We have no control over the internet content provided using 4G/Cellular sim cards. For your students safety we provide completely filtered internet using a firewall and content filter via our WIFI network.
It may be best to speak with your household insurance company and see what cover is available for a student device. Unfortunately, the school’s insurance cannot cover students individual iPads. IPads purchased through the JB HIFI portal have an option to add insurance that can include breakage, theft and loss of device. When purchasing a new iPad you can purchase apple care for your iPad that offers some accidental damage insurance.
We have chosen the iPad as a school wide tablet device. After trialing other devices in our pilot program we are only permitting iPad’s to be used in the classroom. It is easier for our teachers to be proficient at using one device and it provides consistency with software and hardware troubleshooting across the school.
